Interactive Workshop: “Public Policy Laboratories: a participatory approach” for management and technical staff of the Fuenlabrada City Council.

Last Thursday, October 24, 2024, the Interactive Workshop entitled “Public Policy Laboratory: a participatory approach” took place at the Fuenlabrada City Hall.

The workshop, led by Claudio Dondi, was aimed at managers and technicians from various departments including citizen participation, education, urban planning, social welfare, youth, sports, among others.

The objective of this workshop was to introduce municipal staff to the Policy Labs methodology, within the framework of co-governance (the main axis of public policies in the municipality), transferring this methodology to them as a working tool through a participatory process that can be used by several sectors at the same time, generating positive results.

The different profiles were able to discover how the Policy Labs methodology helps to generate those spaces of co-governance and alliance between councils sharing solutions to shared challenges. The Policy Labs methodology promotes fundamental values and suggests a bottom-up approach by involving vulnerable population groups that are directly or indirectly affected by these decisions in decision making.

This interactive workshop was received positively by all participants, who noted that it was a space where they had the opportunity to exchange opinions, share lines of work and create synergies within the different councils. On this day, the different profiles were able to learn about the benefits of these new participatory methodologies and the benefits they could obtain from them. Different common lines of work emerged from this workshop, which will be evaluated for their implementation as future Policy Labs.
